Since its inception in 2001, the Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minoritized Scientists (ABRCMS) has impacted the career development of more than 75,000 trainees and faculty from all 50 states, including Puerto Rico, Guam, and, more recently, internationally. Since 2005, attendance at the conference has more than doubled to approximately 5,500 participants per year; of this number, 65% of attendees have been women and 67% have represented historically underrepresented racial and ethnic groups in science.
All proceeds will fund the inception of ABRCMS Innovation Programs, a crucial source of support for novel initiatives that are intended to aid the ABRCMS community beyond the conference and are not currently covered by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) conference grant funding. Your support provides opportunities for early-career scientist advancement through innovative initiatives, including but not limited to:
- Leadership Development Academy
- DEI Fellowships and Experiential Learning
- Professional Development Grants for Postdoctoral Scientists and Junior Faculty
ABRCMS aims to:
- Expose participants to cutting-edge science and support success as STEM professionals.
- Foster a sense of community across the full spectrum of scientific careers, including in academia, government, and industry.
- Connect trainees with leaders who serve as positive models in the biomedical and behavioral research ecosystem.
